START CNC Sheet Router Kit

The GFHQ START CNC Sheet Router Kit is our lowest-cost way into CNC routing. It's a compact, bolt-together machine that's easy to set up and learn, made for cutting small parts from sheet material when you need them. You assemble it yourself, which keeps the cost down and shows you how every part of the machine works. Designed by Garage Fab HQ. In-stock kits ship in 1–2 business days. You don't need CNC experience. Some basic CAD knowledge helps, and the included free design software, AI design tools and the GFHQ Design Lab make it easy to learn.

How the Kit Works

• We build the controller. Your control system arrives pre-built and tested by Garage Fab HQ.
• You build the machine. You assemble the mechanical parts and handle setup, following our build guide and videos.

Good to Know Before You Order

• Air-cooled router, not water-cooled. This kit uses a non-water-cooled router.
• Waste board not included. You provide your own waste board (spoil board) to fit your table size.
• Vectric Cut2D Pro sold separately. Buy it directly from Vectric if you want it.

Frame

A light-duty, bolt-together chassis made of high-quality steel, CNC laser cut and CNC bent, with a powder coat finish where it applies. Heavy-duty assembly hardware is included. It rolls on heavy-duty caster wheels with adjustable foot pads, so you can move it where you need it and level it in place. Because it bolts together, it ships in standard boxes and can be upgraded later.

Motion

• Motors: NEMA 23, 260 oz-in bipolar open loop steppers on every axis. Our most budget-friendly motion package: simple to wire, easy to tune and inexpensive to replace.
• X and Y: direct-drive rack and pinion on roller bearings
• Z: ball screw on a linear rail

• MyPlasm controller
• USB software pack, ready to install on your own computer: MyPlasm, QCAD 2D and Inkscape

Warranty

1 year on the chassis and mechanical parts, and 1 year on electronics and motors, against normal wear and tear or design flaws. Extended coverage is available: 2 years for $299.99 or 3 years for $499.99. Coverage starts once delivery is confirmed with no shipping damage reported. It doesn't cover modifications, overuse or damage from abnormal conditions. The router and other bought-in parts carry their maker's own warranty: register them and make any claims directly with the maker.
