You don't need CNC experience. Some basic CAD knowledge helps, and the included free design software and the GFHQ Design Lab make it easy to learn.

How the Kit Works

• We build the components. Garage Fab HQ builds the mechanical and electrical components and preps them for setup. Your machine-mounted control system arrives pre-built, and every component is bench tested before it ships.
• You build the machine. You handle the final assembly, setup and tuning that make it fully operational, following our assembly manual and videos. Along the way you learn every component, so BUILD is ideal for hands-on operators who want to save by understanding, maintaining and repairing their own machine.

Frame

A modular, bolt-together heavy-duty steel frame that ships in manageable sections. It rolls on heavy-duty caster wheels with adjustable leveling foot pads, so you can move it for layout changes, cleaning or service and level it in place, even on an uneven floor. The control system and cable management mount to the machine, so there are no loose wires after setup.

Water Table

• Water pan: 3 in. deep, with integrated supports across the whole cutting area. It helps control smoke, dust, heat and material distortion while you cut.
• Slats: spiked and replaceable, so your material sits on points and slag and small drops fall away.
• Clearance: 5 in. below the Z axis for material, torch travel and fixtures.

Motion

• X and Y: direct-drive rack and pinion with 5:1 planetary gear reduction, for more usable torque and finer motion control
• Z: ball screw on a linear rail, for smooth, controlled torch movement
• Travel: the advertised cutting area plus 2 in. in X and Y, for edge access and squaring material
• Homing: automatic on X, Y and Z, with programmed travel limits
• Motors: NEMA 23, 425 oz-in bipolar open-loop steppers on every axis
