Machine Structure

• Modular frame design: ships in manageable sections so you can assemble the machine yourself, helping reduce shipping and factory-assembly costs.
• Heavy-duty steel frame: built to support the water pan, cutting material and daily shop use.
• Integrated water-pan supports: the frame properly supports the water pan across the whole cutting area.
• Heavy-duty caster wheels: move the machine when needed for shop layout changes, cleaning or service access.
• Adjustable leveling foot pads: level and stabilize the table once it's in place, even on uneven shop floors.
• Machine-mounted control system: controls and cable management are fixed to the machine, keeping the installation organized with no loose wires after setup.

Cutting Bed & Water Table

• Water pan included: helps capture plasma dust and sparks while reducing smoke and heat during cutting.
• Curved slats included: support your material while letting slag and small drops fall away from the workpiece.
• Water-pan and slat support system: heavy-duty frame support under the cutting bed for long-term durability.
• 5 inches of clearance below the Z axis: useful room for material, torch travel and fixtures.

A water table helps control smoke, dust, heat and material distortion while you cut.

Motion & Drive System

• Direct-drive rack and pinion on X and Y: fast, reliable long-axis travel that's easy to service.
• Ball-screw Z axis: smooth, controlled vertical torch movement.
• 5:1 planetary gear reduction on X and Y: more usable torque and finer motion resolution for more controlled cuts.
• Advertised cutting area plus 2 inches of travel in X and Y: extra room for edge access, squaring material and setup.
• Automatic homing on X, Y and Z: the machine finds a repeatable home position every time it starts.
• Programmed travel limits: help protect the machine from unintended overtravel.

Automated Cutting Features

• Automatic torch touch-off on Z: finds the material height before each cut for consistent pierce height and setup.
• Automatic Torch Height Control (THC): continuously adjusts torch height while cutting to keep a consistent cut gap, even when material warps or moves.
• Ohmic sensing for dry setups: when you run without water in the pan, it detects the material surface for automatic torch-height referencing.
• Wireless gaming-style remote: jog and position the machine wirelessly while loading, squaring and setting up material.

Every START machine includes a USB drive loaded with the core software and starter designs you need to begin creating and cutting parts:
